At the end of each season a reasonable attempt is made to identify the Commish for the following season. If the Commish is not identified at that time, the process will continue throughout the year. A choice must be made.
* In 2015 the league decided that the Commish must be a volunteer of their own free will. In the event that no Commish volunteers, Christian Del’Aune will perform the duties of Commish under official protest.
The following is a list of necessary preseason events the Commish must facilitate with the league in order to set it up for the season. Representative dates are shown next to each key event.
Doodle on Draft Date: Aug 10
Determine Draft Order: Aug 17
Keepers Due: Aug 31
Input Keepers and Set Draft Positions: Sep 1
Manually Set Schedule: Sep 2
Online Draft: Sep 4
NFL Season Opener: Sep 5
To participate in the league, each manager will be asked to “buy-in” at a cost of $25.
The funds must be submitted to the treasurer via PayPal before the draft date.
The acting treasurer is Christian Del'Aune
The email address for PayPal is treasurer@magicshotparadise.com
If a buy-in is not received by the draft date, the manager will not be allowed to live draft.

With the exception of the following, we use Yahoo standard scoring.

1.0 per 50 RETURN yards
6.0 per RETURN TD
Each year a reasonable effort is made to have an in person draft. When that attempt inevitably fails, an online draft occurs.
In 2015, by an unprecedented unanimous vote, the league changed the time allotted to make a pick in an online live draft from Yahoo's default of 90 seconds down to 60 seconds. This was an effort to minimize the overall draft time.
The draft order is randomized every season. The method used to generate the draft order will be shared with the league.
Each team may persist a single player, known as a keeper, from one season to the next, under the following rules:
A player may only be a keeper if the player is a part of your team’s final roster from the previous season.
A keeper must be drafted two rounds higher than the previous year’s draft position.
If said player was undrafted the previous season, player should be drafted in round 15.
A player drafted in the 1st or 2nd round may not be used as a keeper the following year.
A keeper may only be draft for 3 seasons following the initial draft for a total of 4 seasons.
The "count" for number of seasons a keeper has been held is reset when ownership changes by either waivers/free agency, or re-draft in a new season. The count does not reset when a keeper is traded. In the event of a trade, the current count transfers with the player to the new owner. Some specific examples follow:
A keeper dropped and subsequently picked up from waivers or free agency by a new owner may be used for the current season and kept for 3 additional seasons by the new owner.
A keeper previously kept for two seasons (owned three seasons) may be traded to a new owner and kept by the new owner for one additional season
A keeper returns to the full draft pool after the third season kept, or if not owned at the end of any season.
A full historical record of the current rules is available here.
The league voted to remove divisions in 2021.
A historical record of this rule change is available here.
The following rule was adopted during the 2016 pre-season by a vote of 7 “For” and 1 “Against.”
During the off-season, after the MSP Championship match and prior to the keeper declaration deadline, team managers may trade players and/or draft picks. Each manager must receive as many picks and players as he/she gives. These trades are subject to the same review rules as all other trades. The number of allowable Keeper players is not affected by such trades.
The 12 team league will play weekly head-to-head matchups. The schedule for these matchups shall be randomly determined prior to the start of each season using Yahoo's schedule randomization feature.
At the end of the regular season, the top six teams make the Championship playoff bracket with the top two teams receiving a first roung bye. Teams finishing 7-12 in regular season standings resolve the remainder of their crappy season in the Consolation playoff bracket.
At the conclusion of each season, the buy-in money will be paid out to the winners as follows:
League Champion (playoffs winner) - $100
Regular Season Champion - $80
2nd Place Regular Season - $35
3rd Place Regular Season - $35
Trophy Fund - $50
Yahoo makes it tricky to figure out final regular season standings after the playoffs because it re-ranks the display based on the playoff standings, but the overall record and total points are only based on the regular season. So, to manually calculate the regular season 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place folks, we rely on the simple Yahoo ranking rules of record, followed by total points. Therefore, if two teams share the same regular season record, the team with more total points on the season gets the higher ranking, no matter what the head to head win/lose status might be.
With the removal of divisions in 2021, the payout list was edited to reflect 2nd and 3rd place rather than division winners. Payout dollar amounts did not change. A historical record of this rule change is available here.
From 2005 to 2010, MSP used Yahoo as its Fantasy Football League Manager.
In 2011 the decision was made to move to ESPN for many reasons, but mostly because the player status info was more accurate. No one had any real issue with this besides Dom who was ridiculous. In 2011, the league also decided to implement a single keeper.
When the 2012 season started, the Commish discovered that ESPN could not handle keepers the way we had outlined it the year before and the decision was made to move back to Yahoo for the 2012 season. Yahoo seemed to be vastly improved.
Before the 2015 season, technical issues arose that prevented the renewal of the existing league. A new league was created in Yahoo.
A Google Group exists which should be used for all official league communications. Users may use this Group however they see fit, but must keep up with league business per the pledge.
* We tried using the message board in the league app, but it is shockingly terrible. Until Yahoo gets their act together, we will use something else.
